Well its going to be close, i still have to finish wiring

the bike, the tank and frame are getting a little paint.

Its missing the parts i sent off to be chromed and some

other bits and pieces, but it looks like a bike now.

I did not think i would have time to put new leather on the

saddle before the show, but since i am not getting the

frame back until wednesday now (meaning i have only 6 days to

put the bike back together) i had a little bit of time on my hands.

The painter is down with the flu, so i did not get

my frame back yesterday as planned. With 2 weeks

to go this stresses me. My plan is to make sure every little

thing on every part is finished, and today i made my

control panel out of these beautiful old switches.

I am getting tired of polishing :-)

Other than the push rods the engine is complete....yesss!!

They will be installed once the engine is in the frame.

Everything is as tight as a nuns......but it fits.

I had to helli coil most of the threads for the

rocker covers which sucked, but its finished now.

The legs are shaved and polished. i know i am going

to hear ''why didn't shave the fenders brackets''.

well i live Scandinavia not California.

Also shaved and polished the top tree.

So the heat is on, three weeks until i leave for the show

with 'i hope' two bikes. The frame is at the painter, due

back tuesday, i collect the cylinders and heads from

the blaster friday. and the chrome items should be

ready in just under two weeks. I have a long list which

gets a little shorter everyday. Today i cleaned up the engine.

This frame was hardy the 'Mona Lisa', so i had to order

a lot of new fittings from WASCO frameworks in

my home town of Seattle. And after a day of welding,

grinding and sanding she is ready for the painter.

New foot board tabs, which have been move 1" forward.

New fender bracket.

New, but chopped down engine bracket.

Two beautiful seat post mounts from my good friend 'Le Beef'

And lastly the rear brake anchor bracket.

This was a little bitch to replace.

Fab up the whole back fender, found these beautiful nuts

which double as a tie-down for strapping luggage.

The chopper is in the last stages of a finished mock up,

so will be ready to strip and paint, i am trying to

finish it in five weeks as it is appearing at the Mooneyes

show being held on the 18th Feb in Sweden.

Other than the fucked engine the 'Jamesville Express'

is together and is looking sweeet!!

The triumph is finally a roller after waiting

months for parts for the rear wheel,

and the stretch rear end has finally arrived in the UK.

The last job before it is a rolling chassis was the bars.

These original bars were very badly bent when

i bought them but they only cost 200kr $34.

After some hours with the heat and a little filler

they are as good as new.

I recently bought some saddle bags for this bike and

as part of the deal received some original parts

including rear stand and bracket, front mud flap

and front and rear crash bars. One problem!! the rear

crash bar and been cut into three pieces, i was not told

the reason other than someone thought this

was the quickest way to remove it.

Anyway the middle section was lost before it arrived

at my shop, so only thing to do was to make a new one.

THE FIRST DAY BACK AT WORK....

Well it sucked!! it was one of those days where everything

either broke, was broken, was missing or was the wrong part.

But the worst was yet to come, last job of the day was to

strip the motor down and get it ready for paint.

Thats when i discovered that someone had use

aluminum putty to level out the top of the engine cases

where the cylinders bolt to them. The right hand

side is about 1.5 mm lower than the left. FUCK!!

Today was a little better, i finished the front end

after having to replace almost everything inside

the hub. It was all home made!!

'OK big deal its just a magneto'. Well thats where you are wrong buddy!

This is 1 of only 2 ever custom built magnetos for a Panhead,

made so no changes have to be done to the cylinder fins or relay boss.

The axle has been extended, the body has been reduced in height

and the front has been shaved, and lastly the coil has been re-positioned.

I must of been a good boy this year, because Santa came early!

Today i started the lowering process for the triumph bobber.

i bought some stronger springs used for bikes using side-cars

and chopped them down 1 1/2". Then heated and reshaped spring.

Lastly i put in a 1 1/2" plastic spacer at the bottom of the leg.

The front brake plate was painted silver (why??),

so sandblasted and polished, beautiful aluminum!!

Today after a hard weekend of Xmas parties, i pulled it

together and and with the help of a buddy stripped down the

Stocker in a personal record of two hours.

And i finished the handlebars for the triumph bobber.

i have some real trouble getting the parts

together for this project, i have been waiting for

over a month for the stretch hardtail!!

The building of the 'Two Panheads' starts. One with everything

and one with as little as legally possible (and then some).

Checked out the piston size of the new 64' motor today , it turned

out to be 0.60. Then slid it into its new frame, very tight fit!!!

So my goal was to build a Knuckle chopper,

but it was just out of reach for my budget this time.

But it has become something else, i will be building two

bikes for myself. Its 'chalk and cheese', 'ying and yang'

or 'black and white' for one will be a complete full dresser

with all kinds of accessories and the other a complete

stripped down, weight reduced chopper.......

This will be the engine for the chopper baby!!

Its a 1964 FLH, with matching casesings,

original cam cover, cylinders and heads.

This is the panhead with the outside oil system.

It was sold to me by my good friend Frank,

who swore he would never sell it. Thank you buddy.

it is now build on complete original HD parts,

and i have just tracked down a windsheild.

Well it was not for sale, it was found in a barn, was not running

and had been sat there for 5 years. And this is my new bike!!

At the time this photo was taken the bike is about 90%

original HD, only the handlebars, speedo and saddle are not.

Well that is very lucky for me as i have all those parts stashed away.

Some of the parts are not right for the year but at the price i paid

i am not complaining one little bit. If any one has a rear crash-bar

I just purchased this beautiful, fully polished 36-64 tranny for

my knuckle (more likely pan) chopper. It had been totally

renovated by the previous owner and then i have just replaced all

the acorn nuts and allen screws. And of course i got it for a steal!!

I love to build custom bobbers and choppers, but i also love a good

restoration. This is a 1969 45" ex-police Servi car which was bought a

number of years ago in an auction, it runs but really needs some TLC.

The client wants to preserve all the patina but have a perfect running bike.

Stay tuned, it should arrive in the shop around Christmas.

It was a hard couple of months, but now its back to normal.

I am starting two new builds, a 1953 Triumph Thunderbird

which will be stretch etc and turned into an awesome bobber,

and the slow but eventually knuckle(maybe) chopper.

Well the clutch is back on after milling off the lip thingy

for the starting sprocket thingy, and i was ready to finish

up the belt drive, but of course the belt was too big.

Back to the store........

Please can someone tell why Harley decided

to the make the clutch hub nut on 74's

anti-clockwise and the 45's clockwise??

A back light is always the hardest part to find

on a custom bike build i think.

If you are ever at a swap meet and see a cool back light BUY IT!!

It does not matter if you don't own a bike at the time,

but if ever dream or plan to have a bike, buy it.

THE HOME STRETCH

Today i got the exhaust mounted after cutting off the

angled tips to give it the shotgun look.

Martin bought a used clutch hub with a starter sprocket

that i drilled it out, but AFTER installing the clutch found out i will

have to mill the whole hub down to fit it in the primary case.

Found a nice old kicker in the stash.

My solution for the foot brake pedal spring.

Why the fuck do ACCEL produce their

coils in yellow, i mean who wakes up and thinks

'today i want to buy a bright yellow coil!!'

i painted it black.

We took the bike down last night to check out how it sat.

Should we low the frontend or keep it old school?

And i can not quite decide if the sissy bar

is leaning back to far.....

I spent a whole day stripping all the paint off the engine,

man that was a bitch!! i never want to to that again.

But the results are awesome!!

Now i just have to round off the rocker covers

and give them a good polish.

But it has not touched the ground yet, i am not

as strong as 'Randy Smith', i can not lift it myself.

Painted the cylinders with aluminum heat paint,

well i tried but the can was faulty. So i took it back

to the shop, the guy gave it two sprays, and said

'It works just fine'. He finally gave me a new

one but when i returned to the shop, guess what

that didn't work either really.

What happened to my good luck these days??

WORKING ON THE BACKSIDE...

I am one wheel away from a rolling chassis, but i have some hours

to go. Someone had the bright idea to use acorn nuts to hold the

chain sprocket to the brake drum, that is really not a good idea!!

So i had to install new rivets all the way around.

As usually a lot of small bits and pieces

were missing from the star hub.

I needed a break from the wheel, so made a new bracket

for the headlight and mounted the new brass ring.

To lace a wheel either takes me an hour or many many hours.

The front one took me an hour so you can guess this one did not.

The only thing left is to try and straighten out the anchor

brake plate which is warped, and put on the last tire.

The frontend is finished, but we may decide to lower it an inch

or two but will have to see when it is on the ground.

A 19" rim wrapped in black vintage rubber,

to me is just the most awesome looking wheel.

The tranny is in its place after hours of getting all the black

paint off, that was a bitch and i still have the engine to do.

Gone are all those hundreds of chrome Acorn nuts

replace with beautiful Parkerized ones.

And i sandblasted the chrome tranny cover,

bit cheaper than dechroming!!

Some of you may have seen may Ford Ranger on this

blog, i got it for a very nice price and was very happy with it.

Well around 7pm on a friday i heard a loud crashing sound

outside my house, and i ran out to see a wasted Polish guy

had destroyed my truck after driving straight into the back of it.

I am the very last house on the end of a long dead end road,

so how this could possibly happen i have no idea!!!!

i have now spend the last two weeks looking

for a new vehicle and have found nothing,

meaning i have not really be able to work either,

but here is what i have got done so far...........

I have been in Seattle for two weeks with the

family on vacation, so was looking forward to

coming home and seeing the frame etc that was

painted while i was away.

It looks a little blue (crappy iphone pic)

but it is actually a light grey.

The fabrication is completed now and its time to

rip it all to pieces and add all the finishes.

BACK IN THE SHOP

Been out of the shop for a week so was excited

to get back to working on the Pan/shovel.

Started on the sissy, for the height i measured

one of the shop chairs, which turn out to be 16".

I received these beautiful hand controls today,

but i will have to add a little back onto the bars.

Finished up the disc brake after having

the axle shaved down. (Safety first right?:-)

shaved and filled the tress.

Aged the Mallory ignition.

Cleaned and blasted the headlight.

Relocated the 'soon to be black' coil.

Mounted this totally awesome primary cover.

Today i started on the shifter and brake pedals,

first i cut away as much of the original bracket

as possible and then welded on a new shifter peg.

Martin (the owner) found some cool old pegs

which i sand blasted to dull down the chrome.

I always thought the original Sportster head clamp

was a beautiful piece, even more so after sand blasting

and a little polishing.

When i was a apprentice i was told by a great teacher

that it is human to make mistakes, but it takes

a craftsman to fix it. The top clamp had a large

chunk missing, now no one will ever know.

I LOVE TO RECYCLE!! not bottles and shit,

but ugly aftermarket parts. recognize this seat pan?

First i hard to cut off all the old brackets and tabs

welded onto the side of the tank.

Then of course make new ones and stripped the

tank of paint. Its now ready for whatever finish.

I started off with an sporty tank, sporty front end,

16" in the rear and 21" up front and z bars.

Finished off with Hydro front end and a 19",

then chopped up some baby apes....

I have changed the design of my saddle bags,

they are now shorter and wider for

those guys that really like to lean their big

twins into those corners.
